How to Plan a Semiconductor Company Website

A semiconductor website must make a large technical catalogue usable while keeping specifications, availability, and lifecycle information under control.

Design around component selection

Let engineers narrow products by function and decision-critical parameters, then compare a manageable set without leaving the product family. Category pages should explain where a family fits, while product pages expose the exact package, temperature range, interfaces, qualification, and ordering information for a specific part.

Use stable part-number URLs and keep parametric filters aligned with the source product data. The catalogue principles in ecommerce product taxonomy planning also apply here: inconsistent attributes make both search and comparison unreliable.

Control technical product data

Connect datasheets, reference designs, application notes, models, software, errata, compliance documents, and revision history to the correct product and status. A visitor should be able to tell whether a file applies to the exact device, family, package, or revision they are considering.

Publish lifecycle states and replacement guidance with clear dates and ownership. Do not imply stock, lead time, qualification, or roadmap certainty unless the displayed source is current and the company is prepared to maintain it.

Support design-in and procurement

Explain evaluation kits, sample requests, design tools, technical support, quality documentation, and the path from early evaluation to production. Separate public resources from material that requires an account or project context, and say what information is needed before access is granted.

Show authorised sales and distribution routes by region, including how buyers verify channel status and where availability is confirmed. Keep engineering support, commercial quotations, and order issues distinct so each request reaches the correct team.

Route sales and support clearly

A useful enquiry captures device or family, application, development stage, expected volume range, geography, timing, and the help required. Provide a secure path for sensitive designs rather than asking visitors to attach schematics to a general form.

Measure successful product discovery, comparison use, current document access, sample or kit requests, and qualified design-in conversations. The site should reduce avoidable search work while preserving the controls a technical catalogue needs.
